The University of Applied Sciences, Hof currently offers two master degrees in the area of computer science, a Master Software Engineering and a Master Industrial IT.

Masters of Software Engineering Program

Beginning the fall of 2004 we started offering the Master of Software Engineering. Currently, there are a almost 40 students from 8 different countries (China, Germany, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Pakistan, Poland, and Sudan) enrolled in the program. To guarantee a high quality education, we limit the number of students we accept to 20 per year. Currently, we have about 90 applications per year, so admission is quite competitive.

Our first batch of 5 students graduated last year and they all immediately found good paying positions with companies such as Siemens and ND SatCom, but also smaller local companies.

The first year of the program is theoretical and full-time classes are taught at Hof. The second year is mostly spent as a paid intern with a company. Some of our students are doing or have been doing their internship at such well-known companies as Siemens, IBM, Rehau, ND SatCom and the JRC (the Joint Research Centre of the European Union).

We also collaborate with other universities. This spring our students had the opportunity to participate in a one week trip to the Université de Nantes, France, in the beautiful old city of Nantes, close to the Atlantic ocean. On four days the students were taking classes on Data Mining, together with their French colleagues. On the fifth day, we had the opportunity to learn about Nantes, French culture and cuisine.

The Master Software Engineering is a 4 semesters (120 ECTS) degree program, emphazising software engineering for distributed systems, advanced information systems and logistic systems. All courses are taught in English. The tuition is currently 2000 Euro per semester. Hof is a small town and the university with a total of about 1800 students and 60 professors, is small enough to allow for a wonderful learning environment. Hof is 3 hours away from Munich, the IT-capital of Germany, thus allowing our students access to the job market there.
